The HD's high horsepower and torque ratings make it very popular in large fire trucks and constructions vehicles.

With Allison World Transmission Electronic Controls, an HD can adapt to operate efficiently in a wide variety of conditions. Vocational programming packages allow you to tailor transmission and vehicle operation to your specific requirements.

Features 

A high-capacity torque converter gives the HD the low-speed power to get heavy loads moving without straining the drive train, even on bills or off-road. The HD’s first gear does the same work as the first few gears of a manual. An integral lockup clutch engages at higher speeds to improve fuel economy. The HD maximizes efficiency by engaging lockup as early as possible and even shifting from lockup to lockup.

Planetary gears give HD-equipped vehicles brisk acceleration, with no power interruption during shifts. That can improve response time in emergency vehicles or increase productivity in vocational trucks.

With factory-preset vocational programming options, you car, program the transmission to prevent gear engagement when auxiliary equipment is in operation

Options 

HD Series transmissions are available as four-speed direct drives or as five- or six-speed over-drive transmissions. 

The HD Series has three available PTO provisions. The engine-driven PTO gear gives you better control when operating auxiliary equipment. 

An integral retarder can improve vehicle braking both m traffic and on grades The retarder quietly provides most of the braking to slow the vehicle, saving wear and tear on the service brakes.
